disability revolution’s isidima campaign

what is disability revolution?

Disability Revolution (DR) is a community-led movement of people with disabilities, their families, and carers, supported by #UniteBehind. We organise in Khayelitsha, Delft, Nyanga, and Eerste River to demand that clinics deliver the care, equipment, and supplies that people with disabilities are entitled to by right — not as charity, but as dignity.

the isidima campaign

Isidima means dignity. For thousands of people with disabilities and older persons in the Western Cape, incontinence products are not a luxury — they are the difference between participating in daily life and being confined to home. Yet clinics routinely ration adult nappies to as few as one or two per day, or run out of stock entirely. The result is discomfort, skin conditions, infection, isolation, and indignity that no one should have to endure.

The Isidima Campaign is fighting on two fronts. We are advocating for the Department of Health to properly budget for, stock, and distribute incontinence products at clinics, so that supply matches real need. And while we fight for that systemic change, we are collecting donations of adult nappies and funds to bring immediate relief to those who cannot wait for policy to catch up.

How can i support this campaign for dignity?

You can make an immediate difference in two ways:

Donate adult nappies. Every pack donated goes directly to a person who needs it. To arrange drop-off or collection, contact us at disabilityrevolution@unitebehind.org.za

Donate funds. Your contribution allows us to purchase incontinence products in bulk and sustain the campaign’s advocacy work.
